This blog is now discontinued as I don’t live in China anymore. I have a couple of post ideas still in my head, but I am pretty busy studying on a scholarship (gotta keep up those grades), so those ideas may never see the light of day. But thank you to everyone who read my blog and I hope you got some new ideas on places to visit and things to try in Chongqing!

About the name

If ever asked I will be the first person to admit I suck at coming up with names. This blog is no exception. The url is from when I thought it would be a good idea to call it ‘Much Ado About Asia’. After a while I decided it would be funnier to do a word pun. And thus ‘The Long Blog’ was named. ‘Long’ is Chinese for dragon, and it is an important mythological creature all over Asia. (It does help a bit that my Chinese zodiac sign is also dragon.)

About the author

My name is Laura, and I am teaching English in Chongqing for the 2015-16 academic school year. (Warning! shameless plug ahead) I came to China through a company called The China Teaching Experience, a company that offers graduates the chance to teach English in China for a year.

As of now I only speak very minimal Chinese, but hopefully that won’t limit me too much! I started this blog to spread the love towards all that China (and Asia) has to offer, as well was to give practical advice to other future expats coming to China.

    Hi Laura,

I was wondering if you have ever been to The Purple Sea and Vanilla Art Manor near Beikou town and what did you think / how far is it from The Simatai Great Wall?
